Ella x Marion

A STORY OF YOUNG LOVE BETWEEN CONTINENTS

Marion and Ella, two young models based in London, applied for this photoshoot individually. However, as the deadline for the project approached, I discovered that they were actually a couple. This revelation inspired me to create a duo shoot that explored their relationship, beauty, and youth.

The shoot was intended to produce two individual portrait editorials alongside the joint one. Nonetheless, as the day progressed, it became clear that Ella and Marion’s connection was too strong to ignore, and the idea of having solo takes gradually felt redundant. Soon after, the camera captured their natural chemistry, and the resulting images were breathtaking. These were taken in Valentines Park: a perfectly matched name for the occasion.

Marion and Ella met in Japan and hope to return there one day to live and prosper. The outfits they chose inadvertently evoke the atmosphere one can breathe in Harajuku, remarking the connection with their past lives in Tokyo.

Marion is wearing a white shirt underneath a high-collar jacket that resonates with that of a gakuran, the traditional high school uniform for boys in Japan.

Ella is wearing an autumnal checked blazer, which is juxtaposed with a lighter dark grey dress, white shirt, and socks. This retro-chic combination gives her portraits a timeless quality.

In the wake of Richard Linklater’s “Before” trilogy, my dream is to continue this project over the years to see them grow and evolve, with a final episode to be shot in the land of the rising sun. I can already imagine the scene: Ella and Marion standing in the middle of Shibuya Crossing, looking at each other with love and admiration as the world rushes by around them.

It was an honor to work with Marion and Ella, and I am excited to see where their journey takes them. I hope that this shoot will inspire others to embrace their true selves and celebrate their unique connections with others.
